A few years ago members of the Dark Passage bought an old lumber company’s building in Detroit and proposed to transform it into an art center. The Seafoam Palace is now a museum-cabinet of curiosities inspired by the classic wonder chambers. Julia Solis explains how this project started: “How do you arouse people’s curiosity now that everything is documented?” The Seafoam Palace is also a self-managed venue that organizes exhibitions and events about urban exploring and that stores material gathered from abandoned places in Detroit.
