CENTER FOR POSTNATURAL HISTORY

Part 1

Richard Pell is an artist, activist and researcher who founded a small, weird museum/cabinet in Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania), called the Center for PostNatural History. Its mission is to fill a gap that a natural museum would not cover: those organisms that have been intentionally modified by humans. Actually this is what the term "PostNatural" stands for. As Pell explains, the PostNatural History refers to that moment in which culture intervenes in nature so that the organism in question is not just telling a story about evolution or its habitat, but also about humans.
